Independence Day and Blueberry Picking

We had a wonderful Independence Day. Greg was off of work for the day and my mom was in town for the week.
We started our day off by going to the Riverbend parade. Hunter had never been to a parade before, and neither had I! It was definitely a small one, but it was enjoyable. They had WWII veterans in the parade and people applauded them. I love moments like that of our people showing true patriotism and honor for those who had a hand in fighting for our country.
Here's grammy and Gunnar waiting for the parade to start.
 Me and my baby girl.
After church, we watched the New Bern fireworks. We just happened to park next to some friends of ours when looking for a spot, so it was fun to visit with everyone while we waited for them to start.
This is what flash from a camera does to my pasty white-skinned boy...
I wonder where he gets it from...? (And my silly husband.)
 Here's a better one...

My goofy Kylee with crazy hair.

The next morning we went blueberry picking with the Friedleins, and WOW it was hot! We got there about 9:30 am and it was already almost 90 degrees! It was a lot of fun though!

At first, Kylee enjoyed letting grammy pick for her.
Then she got the hang of it herself.
 Hunter had fun too!
After a while, Kylee decided playing in the dirt was more fun.
I had Gunnar in my Baby Bjorn and we were HOT being so close. We didn't last too long. I had to call it quits a bit early and I got Gunnar in the truck for some A/C. I didn't get any pictures but the older kids enjoyed cooling (and cleaning) off in a spicket before we left! Jenny has pictures of that here.

We left with just under 5 pounds of blueberries, and between my mom, Hunter, Kylee and me, we had them gone the next evening just by munching on them all day! They were so good! Maybe I'll go back and get some that I'll actually bake with. :)
